Welcome to A-Level Photography
Please watch the film and read the information below, it will give you a good idea what it's like to be an A-Level photography student at Sir John Deane's.
Welcome to Sir John Deane's Sixth Form College Photography Website. It showcases the photography of our hard working Students.
Students who study Photography at Sir John Deane's are actively encouraged to explore the infinite possibilities photography can offer. Students will study a comprehensive range of artists, learn and gain understanding in the formal elements that help make strong imagery.
They are taught in depth control of manual DSLRs and Post-production, they also gain experience in using and experimenting with lighting, both in and out of the studio.
The course covers a wide range of photography types, from still-life, portraiture, fashion, documentary and location/landscape.
Students are expected to work every week on their projects, and need to be committed, resourceful and determined.
Teachers Jonathan Murray and Simon Davies work with the students and help them push their ideas and aspirations to produce some exceptional Imagery.
Photography is part of a thriving Art Department, headed by Simon Davies. Students can study Art, Painting, Sculpture, 3D design and Textiles. Students from different art disciplines often work side by side in the Art Departments study area, this makes for an exciting and inspiring environment to study in.
